Now Sakura(cherry blossom) season is coming in Japan! I think it will be full bloom in this weekend here. Before that I enjoyed the another spring flower, rape blossom.

It is very popular and you can see fields of rape flowers everywhere in Japanese countryside.

Some varieties of rape blossoms are cultivated for food. You can take them as a vegetable contains rich beta carotene and other nutrients. It tastes slightly bitter.

Ara(bony parts of fish) is cheap and it becomes a very good soup stock. Aradaki, boiled white radish in Ara broth, is my favorite.

I found a special in this season with Ara in the package at a store.
Flowers and fish eggs are the gift of spring. They made me feel like taking spring into my body.
